Hey children! Welcome to KidsCast! Today, we are going to talk on a really tasty topic! The Invention of the Potato Chips! Yeah, it sounds amazing. The potato chips you eat, has an amazing History. In fact, the potato chips were invented by a mistake! So let us start with this article.
Years ago, in 1853, when it was summer, a customer was waiting for his dinner in a restaurant. This restaurant's name was: Moon Lake's House and was located in Saratoga Springs, New York (in the USA). As he wanted to try something new, he told George Crum, the chef to make him something off the menu of the restaurant. The chef sliced off the potatoes, fried them, added some salt, and prepared a new dish. He served it to the customer, however, the customer didn't like the dish and told the chef to make it again. So, the chef made it again, and this time he sliced thinner potatoes, fried them, added salt and served the customer the dish. Still, the customer didn't like it and chef to retry. Now this made the chef really furious. This time he sliced the potato into the thinnest slices ever possible, added salt, fried them, and served the customer. And this time, the customer loved it! He said he loved the crunch, flavor and the feel of these potato slices, which were the potato chips.
These potato slices became so popular that the restaurant made it an official dish. These started selling these potato slices as Saratoga Chips, which later became Potato Chips. These Saratoga Chips were in fact sold in other cities, and the chef George Crum became the inventor for the Potato Chips. Hence the Potato Chips were born.
Nowadays, Potato Chips are modified by spices and flavors, and are sold internationally on a large scale. Almost in every streets of the world you see delicious Potato Chips packets getting displayed on grocery stores, supermarkets and almost in all food selling shops. So children, now this is the end of this post. Hope you liked the crunch of these chips in this post, we are just kidding! See you next time!
