About Football

Football is a team sport that involves, to varying degrees, kicking a ball to score a goal or putting the ball into a goalpost. We need to understand football because FIFA is the organization that governs football/soccer. Football is thought to date back as far as 2500 BC when the Greeks, Egyptians, Chinese, and Romans played games involving a ball and feet. Modern football is said to originate from Great Britain. Walter Camp is the one who is credited with the making of the rules of present-day football.




What is FIFA?

FIFA stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association. It is the international body of governance of football, beach football, and futsal. It was founded in 1904 in Paris, France to govern the international competition among the national football teams of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. It is Headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland. It currently has 211 members (countries) associated with it in all. Its current president is Gianni Infantino.
