Well, Social media is a way or platform for people to communicate and share information with each other using the internet, on a worldwide scale. It includes websites and apps where people can post pictures, videos, and messages for others to see and comment on. People can interact with each other, that is, message or text each other, see others' posts and content like pictures, videos, etc. and interact on these posts through comments and reactions. Some famous examples of social media include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Discord and Twitter.

Some Social Media platforms:
- Facebook:
- YouTube:
- WhatsApp:
- Instagram:
Addiction: Many people find themselves spending a lot of time on social media and having trouble breaking away. Due to this, many people and kids find a hard time concentrating on activities like studying, spending time with family and friends, staying away from screens, etc.
Decreased real-life communication skills: Spending a lot of time on social media leads to a decrease in communication skills in real life. That is, people become more passive, and non-responsive in real life when they spend a lot of time on Social Media.
Negative impact on mental health: Studies have shown that heavy use of social media can have a negative impact on mental health, which can lead to increased feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and many mental problems.
Competition: Seeing what others are doing, achieving, etc. on social media platforms makes us feel sad and low about ourselves and generates a feeling of competition with other people. Often this competition is about followers on many social media apps, and the person with the most followers is 'cooler', which is certainly not true. This race hence is always taking place between many users.
Increased screen time: Using social media a lot can lead to increased screen time on computers and phones. Seeing what others are doing, watching videos, and posting your own photos, videos, etc. increases the time a person is spending on screen, which is harmful to our health, especially mental health, and our eyes.
