K-pop - The music Super-genre!
Hello Kids! Welcome back to KidsCast!, today we're onto a very interesting topic, pretty sure that all of you are already pretty familiar with this topic- K-Pop: A Musical Phenomenon Taking the World by Storm! Let us look into the details of this super popular and trendy genre!
What is it?
K-Pop, short for Korean Pop, is a musical genre that originated in South Korea and has gained immense popularity all over the world in recent years. With its catchy beats, vibrant choreography, and colourful visuals, K-Pop has become a cultural phenomenon, attracting millions of fans worldwide!
Even though it has been in working for a very long time, it wasn't until 2017-2018, it started getting huge, like HUGE, HUGE... This was due in part to the launch of music television channels and the rise of the internet, which allowed K-Pop to be shared and enjoyed by fans all over the world.
K-Pop originated in South Korea in the early 1990s, at that time the first K-Pop groups were heavily influenced by American pop music, but as the genre evolved, it developed its own unique sound and style. Today, K-Pop is characterized by its fusion of various music genres, including pop, hip-hop, R&B, and electronic dance music, which is another reason why the fandom is so large, as there is a lot to choose from!
One of the defining features of K-Pop is the formation of groups, which typically consist of four to twelve members who sing, dance, and perform together. K-Pop groups often have a distinct concept or image, such as a particular style or theme, and their music videos and performances are known for their high production values and choreography.
Another aspect of K-Pop culture is fan culture, which is characterized by dedicated fan groups who support their favourite artists with fan art, fan fiction, and other creative works. K-Pop fans are known for their enthusiastic support and dedication to their favourite groups and artists.
K-Pop has exploded in popularity in recent years, with groups like BTS and Blackpink gaining international fame and breaking records on the global music scene. K-Pop concerts and fan events draw massive crowds all over the world, and K-Pop music videos have billions of views on platforms like YouTube.
A few unique K-Pop Groups
Usually, K-pop groups go through a simple format, something which every group does, but there are some groups which are an exception, and that makes them stand out from the crowd
1) Blackpink- A group formed in 2016, there was the first K-pop group to have no leader, a leader is a pretty important person in the group but Blackpink chose to not have a leader, after them, a lot of other groups joined the trend, but indeed Blackpink was the FIRST to do so.
