Why is Ganga sacred?
So kids, as we told earlier in this article, Ganga is considered a very sacred river in India. According to Hinduism, Ganga is a goddess and the daughter of Lord Brahma. She came down to earth for washing out the sins of the ancestors of a Hindu king Bhagirath. She later married King Shantanu and gave birth to Bhishma, who later became one of the greatest warriors in Indian history. Today also, people believe that if they bathe in the holy river, all their sins will get washed out. According to Hinduism, before coming to earth, she started flowing from Lord Vishnu's feet but due to her great pressure which could cause havoc on Earth, she landed in the tangles of Lord Shiva's hair where she was released as streams and became the source of today's Ganga.

Sunderban Delta
Sunderland delta about which we told you earlier too, is a mangrove forest area that is formed at the confluence of Bay of Bengal and the mixture of river Ganga and river Brahmaputra that merges with Ganga in the Indian mainland. It is the largest delta formed at the mouth of a river. It is widely known for the species of Bengal Tiger that is the national animal of India. It is a very fertile piece of land and is really rich in flora and fauna.
