What is Mariana Trench?

Well, in simple words it is the deepest oceanic trench on Earth. However, I must tell you that it is in the Pacific Ocean. As you can see in the picture below it is crescent shaped.
Where is it located?
It is located in the western Pacific Ocean and is about 200km or 124 miles east of the Mariana Islands.
Interesting Facts:
In 2009, the Marianas Trench was announced as a United States of American National Monument.
Presuming Mt. EVEREST was placed into the trench at this point, its peak would still be under water by more than two km. 2 km is 1.2 miles.
Naming:
The Mariana trench is named after the Mariana Islands.
Mariana Trench Marine National Monument:
It is situated in The US and protects 246,610 sq. km (95,216 miles) of immersed lands and waters of the Mariana Archipelago. It also includes some of the trench (but not the deepest part called CHALLENGER DEEP). It lies outside the monument.
The vehicle:
Bathyscaphe Trieste, a vehicle designed by Auguste Piccard, is the first manned vehicle to reach the bottom of the Marianas Trench!
It is 11,034 meters (36,201 ft) deep! It is almost 7 miles! You can get to know the depth of the ocean more clearly by taking a look at the picture below.
