Shapes and Patterns - Helping us to Discover the World!

Heyy kids! Welcome back to KidsCast! Now, have you ever looked at the world around you and noticed all the shapes and patterns? Maybe you've seen the hexagonal shapes on a honeycomb, or the striped pattern on a zebra. Shapes and patterns are all around us, and they help us make sense of the world! Let's get into this article and learn further more!

Shapes:

Shapes are all around us, and they come in many different forms. A shape is simply the outline or contour of an object. Some common shapes you might recognize include circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles.

One fun way to explore shapes is to go on a shape hunt! Look around your house or outside and see how many different shapes you can find. You might see circular wheels on a car, square windows on a building, or triangular slices of pizza! Can you name any other shapes you see?

Patterns:

Patterns are another important concept! A pattern is a repetition of shapes, colours, or objects in a predictable way. Some common patterns you might recognize include stripes, polka dots, and chevrons. Such patterns can be seen commonly in many clothes, mats, monuments, and many more things!

Patterns can be found in nature, such as the stripes on a zebra or the petals on a flower. They can also be found in art and design, such as the repeating patterns on a quilt or the geometric shapes in a painting.

One fun way to explore patterns is to create your own! Get some coloured pencils or markers and draw a simple shape, such as a square or circle. Then, repeat that shape over and over in a pattern. You could make a checkerboard pattern with alternating black and white squares, or a polka dot pattern with different coloured circles.

Shapes and patterns are important concepts in geometry, which is the study of shapes, sizes, and positions of objects. They are very interesting and help us to explore the world around us!

So, that is it for today friends! And, the next time you're out, take a look at the shapes and patterns around you. You just might be surprised at what you discover! See you guys soon!

HAPPY LEARNING!
