Along with the Burj Khalifa, the city has amazing and superb other tall buildings, landmarks, and even man-made or artificial islands- The Palm and World Islands!
Dubai is a super-centre of business, trading, and worldwide corporations. It is also a very famous tourist destination and is known well for its luxurious lifestyle and dazzling views and landmarks. Dubai has so many tall buildings and skyscrapers that it is nicknamed to "City of Skyscrapers"! So before we check out the city more, it would be great to know the history of this marvellous city.
History of Dubai:
Dubai has a quite rich history and was even popular many years ago, but just as a fishing village. However, this village of Dubai was not as important or significant as today. It was just a centre for fishing and trading goods. But then, in 1902, this village saw an influential increase in Arab and Iranian settlers. This way, more and more people began to know this village, and its population grew from a few hundred, to now thousands.
Then in the 1960s-1970s, there was a game-changing event for Dubai. The people of Dubai and its rulers discovered Oil. This discovery of oil or petroleum in the village of Dubai gave new ideas to the rulers, which lead to the development of this small village into a well-known town or small city. Industries started to flourish and companies opened up their offices here. Dubai became an important oil-extracting place or region. But then the oil was endless and so much oil was found here, that the rulers of Dubai wanted it to flourish more!
Also, the rulers knew that this oil they are able to extract and sell and develop Dubai from it, would not last long. So they planned something special. They planned to make Dubai an extremely famous tourist destination, which it is today. They gave contracts and flourished more tourist attractions, developed the city, and made residential places. Eventually, due to all this major development, the living standards of Dubai increased, and by the 2000s many such projects were built. In 2001, the developers started the construction of the palm islands which were the first artificial or man-made islands of Dubai! They were completed in 2007. Then in 2004, the largest building in the world was started to be built. And by 2010, just six years, this structure was completed! Finally from 2010-2020, the city developed itself to the best! In just 20-30 years, the city of Dubai witnessed such a development which was never seen in most of the cities of the world!
Though Dubai was so successful in its development, still it is a desert coastal city. So due to this, there is a warm climate, with sea breezes too, as it is a coastal city. There is an arid desert climate in Dubai, and the rest of its country of UAE too. The city is hot and warm mostly, and very hot in the summer. The maximum temperature reaches 43°C (109° F) in summer and it goes down to 16°C (60.8°F) in winter. The mean or average temperature is around 25-30°C (77-86°F). In conclusion, Dubai is hot to very hot.
