The Food we Eat - What it does?


Hey kids! Do you know what happens to your body when you eat food? Today, we welcome you back to KidsCast! and also, today we'll tell you what food is and why you need to eat a healthy food diet every day! So, let's start!

What is Food?

Food is like the fuel that powers our bodies. Just like a car needs petrol to run, our bodies need food to function properly. When we eat food, our body uses it to create energy and to build and repair the different parts of our body. Nutrients are like the building blocks of our bodies. It creates everything necessary for the body to function.

Nutrients and the Types:

Nutrients are things in your food that help your body grow, give you energy, and keep you healthy. Just like how plants need sunlight and water to grow, your body needs nutrients from food to grow and stay strong. There are different needs of our body so there are different nutrients. Some of them are:

1) Carbohydrates - It provides energy to our body. Chocolates and potatoes are foods that contain carbohydrates.

2) Fats - It gets stored in our body and when carbohydrates are over in our body, fats provide energy. Butter and ghee are some foods that contain fats.

3) Proteins - It builds our body and help our body to repair and build new body muscles. Eggs and Milk contain proteins.

4) Minerals and Vitamins - These help our body by creating immunity and helping it fight any illness. Fruits and vegetables contain these.

5) Water - Water is equally important as food. You should drink at least 7-8 glasses of water a day. It is very important for your body!

What does Food give to our body?

Different types of food provide different things for our body's needs. Fruits and vegetables give us vitamins and minerals that help keep our body healthy, and whole grains like bread and rice give us energy in the form of carbohydrates. Proteins like meat, eggs, and beans help our body build and repair tissues, while fats like butter and oil give us energy and help our body absorb certain vitamins.

How does our body use food?

Our body breaks down the food we eat into smaller pieces so that we can absorb the nutrients and energy. This process starts in our mouth when we chew the food and mix it with the liquid in our mouth, saliva. Then, the food goes to our stomach where it is broken down further by acid and enzymes. Finally, the nutrients from the food are absorbed into our blood and used by our body to power and repair our body parts.

What does Food do to our Body?

Eating all kinds of nutrients, as we told you above, in our food is important to stay healthy. A healthy diet can help us maintain a good weight, prevent illnesses, and keep our body parts working properly. Food can also make us happy and bring us joy. Sharing food with our friends and family, trying new foods, and enjoying the different tastes and textures of different dishes can all contribute to our happiness and well-being.
