Why are there so many Countries?

Hello Buddies! Welcome back to KidsCast! Did you know that there are approximately 195 countries in the world? Isn't that a LOT of numbers? Have you ever wondered why the world has so many different countries? There isn't an exact or 100% foolproof answer to this question, but several reasons may explain why the whole world is divided into so many countries. What are the reasons? Wanna find out? Let's begin!

The vastness of the World:
Before we understand why there are so many countries, we must understand that our world is very vast, big or large! The Earth is a total area of 510,072,000 sq km (196,939,900 sq miles)! And it is so big that there are massive continents in the world, that too seven of them! In fact, the world is so vast and large, that it would take you 335 days to walk around the world if you walk non-stop! So, we just understand that the world is superly large!

So, now that we know that world is a big place, we can proceed further. This large world is home to a lot of different people with different cultures, traditions, religions, experiences and languages. Throughout history, groups of people have formed their own communities and places based on these differences, and these communities and places eventually grew into countries.

There's confusion? Let's discuss this in-depth!

The Reason for So Many Countries:
One reason why there are so many countries in the world is because of geography. The Earth is divided into different regions, and each region has its own unique landscape, climate, and resources. This has led to the development of different cultures and ways of life in different parts of the world, which in turn has led to so many different countries. But why have just landscapes, resources and ways of living divided the world into so many countries? Let's answer why...

The World Map, with the 195 Countries!

The reason why there are so many countries in the world is because of politics. Ugh! Politics? Don't worry! It's not that kind of politics. In the past, powerful empires and kingdoms would conquer and rule over other lands, eventually creating new countries. Today, countries can also be formed through peaceful means, such as when a group of people decide they want to govern themselves independently from another country.

It's important to remember that each country is made up of unique individuals with their own hopes, dreams, and aspirations. People have the right to self-determination, which means that they have the right to govern themselves and decide how they want to live their lives. It's because of people's wishes and historical reasons like empires, kingdoms and lands which lead to the present-day world of countries.

It's just simple. There are so many differences in the world and the people too. Their histories are different, and their ways of living are different. Different countries and places have different leaders who think in their own way of managing their places and countries. And because of all these things and other factors too, there are so many DIFFERENT countries.

So there you have it, kids! Countries exist because of geography, history, politics, and the desire for self-determination. Each country is special and unique in its own way, just like each of us. Let's celebrate our differences and work together to create a more peaceful and amazing world!
HAPPY LEARNING!
