Ciao Ragazzi! Hey kids! Welcome back to KidsCast! Today, in this article we are going to travel and learn about the city of Venice - The city of canals! So pick up your bag, and camera, and put on your sunglasses! We are heading to Venice!
Introduction:
Venice is a city in Italy. The core area or city of Venice is an island, which actually looks like floating areas of houses. This core city is connected to the mainland of Italy through a bridge (road), and to other islands via boats. One can only walk or do boating in this city, and cannot drive a vehicle, because there are no roads! Venice is also the capital city of Northern Italy's Veneto Region. The city has lots of canals, through which people can travel through the city, enjoying the boating experience. Venice city region, total consists of more than 100 islands! It is also known as the "Floating city" or "City of Water".
Inside the City of Venice:
Inside the city of Venice is so amazing and beautiful, that you would want to go there immediately! The beautiful compact and colorful houses are surrounded by other houses, and from the canal in the front. The boats are very common in Venice and run throughout the day, as cars run throughout the day in our cities. The attractions there are built by the canals! Days are beautiful and fresh here, with boats running throughout the city. Imagine that during sunrise you are sitting in a boat, with some beautiful guitar playing... That is peace!

Attractions in Venice:
1. St. Mark's Basilica:
St. Mark's Basilica is a church in Venice, the city of canals. It is a roman catholic church. Its construction was completed in 1094 year. Imagine, this church is almost one thousand years old! Its beauty provides and tells us about the ancient European architecture, and shows us the beauty of catholic churches. This is one of the best places to visit in Venice!
2. Doge's Palace:
Doge's Palace is a palace built in Venetian Gothic Style. It is one of the major attractions of Venice. It is also built beside a canal. The palace was the home and residence of the Doge of Venice (Which means the Duke or 'King' of Venice). It was built in 1340, and is also hundreds of years old.
3. Teatro La Fenice:
Teatro La Fenice is a famous performing arts theater, in Venice. It is one of the most famous and renowned landmarks in the history of Italian theaters. It is a wonderful place in Venice where people can visit to check out its architecture, and enjoy various performances.
4. Grand Canal:
The Grand Canal is the widest canal of all the canals in Venice, and is one of the major waterway corridors of the city. It has beautiful bridges built over it, and hundreds of boats use it for travelling through it, everyday. It is 5 metres deep, and has beautiful houses and landmarks built on its banks.
5. Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari:
Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari is also a church, located in the heart of the San Polo district, of Venice. It is the largest church in the city of Venice. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. It has a beautiful Venetian Gothic Architecture, and is a must visit place in Venice.
